On the path that led to the Logo
Inspired by God along with a speller, our logo was crafted by our friend Tommy Zufall, the owner of https://www.yadayadacoffee.com/.
The idea was to remind us that like a oak nut a person with autism has limited potential without something to nurture them to grow. That something is Spelling to Communicate. Rooted deep the oak nut has the opportunity to emerge from the dirt as one of the strongest trees in the forest, and is able to spread it's branches upwards towering over other trees. A person without a voice now has the opportunity to emerge from the confines of autism, rooted deep in the Word with the help of Spelling to Communicate, and is able to spread their mind and heart out to God.
On the journey to the Lessons
Thank you so much for your interest in the lessons. Your interest keeps us advancing into new territories for our spellers. These are a hybrid of sermons, studies, and S2C lessons blended together. We heard from parents that there was a hope for these types of lessons. Our goal is to try and honor their requests. Not all of the format is traditional S2C. My wife and I spent many years on the mission field and in full time ministry. Chris has a Diploma in Theology, a Graduate Diploma in Theology, and a Masters in Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. These lessons come by pursuing God for His direction with the hopes of seeing lives changed forever. There is also a personal need. Our son at the age of two was diagnosed with autism. It was not until we met Samantha Fox (Speech Language Pathologist) did we learn that our son, though non verbal, had a inward voice. We were blessed beyond measure to learn what was in his heart and mind thanks to Spelling to Communicate. Without S2C we would have never known that our son had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord years before his first lesson. Three years later he is now open with Samantha and we are not far behind. We want the reader to know each time a lesson is written it is bathed in prayer and worship. A part from that the lessons are not only for you but for my son. For those concerned about denominations. Each lesson is purposely focused on the Bible alone so the denominations are respected. May the Lord bless this ministry beyond our imagination!

About the Lessons
Warm greetings! This is Chris. I just wanted to take a moment to explain the lessons in more detail. I want everyone to know what they are investing in for their spellers.
The lessons are formatted in this manner:
1. Bible passage (NIV)
2. Going Deeper Into The Word of God (This is commentary, sometimes illustration included to make a point. Known, Semi Open, Prior Knowledge, and Math will be in this part for quick reference as well as for cohesion.)
3. Spelling Words (Come from the passage. Will be capitalized, bolden, and marked in deep purple in the passage.)
4. Known (The questions come from the Bible passage. There can be 1 question to numerous questions. The idea is to give the practitioner and spell partner choices in the questions they want to ask.)
5. Semi Open (The questions maybe 0-4. The speller is given extra Biblical material in the commentary section for further explanation to help them be semi open. The idea behind the extra questions is to offer the practitioner and spell partner choices to tailor the lesson more in a way that is most comfortable to them. Speller is free to elaborate.)
6. Prior Knowledge (Different from S2C. We changed this to prior knowledge found in the Bible.) The questions maybe 0-4. The speller is given extra Biblical material in the commentary section for further explanation to help them answer the questions. The goal is to broaden the lesson so more of the Bible is revealed to the speller. The extra questions offer the practitioner and spell partner choices so their lesson can be tailored.)
7. Math (Passages used and any math that may appear in the content.)
8. Open Question(s) (Typically there is 1 to 2 questions. The goal here when using more than one question is to offer variety in questions. The practitioner and spell partner may prefer one question over another. Feel free to use your own questions.)
